A tournament takes place dedicated to the memory of the great coach of contemporaneity Igor Turchin; every year it gathers more representative members. The name of Turchin is written with gold letters in the history of world handball. Combined team of the Soviet Union under the direction of Turchin became twice the champion of the Olympic games (1976, 1980) and World champion (1982, 1986).

Turchin's "Spartak" from Kiev gained the European Champions cup thirteen times. In the 2001 on the tournament "Turchin's cup" will gather all the European elite: combined teams from Hungary, Ukraine and Russia, which climbed on the podium during the European championship. It is significant that during all the period of being the Turchin's cup, just Ukrainian girls appeared successfully - they gained main trophy of the tournament three times. As a whole it is obvious a manifest progress of the Ukrainian team that became an author of the main sensation of the European championship of the past year.

The tournament "Turchin's cup" is entered into the yearly calendar of the European Handball Federation. The specialists assert that Kiev tournament is one of the most prestigious and the strongest handball competitions in the world between the national combined teams. For our country and its capital it is very prestigious to be presented on the international and world sporting scene with the first class tournament.

Especially it is pleasant to notify that the tournament confirms every year the image of considerable sports event in Ukraine and in international scene. It became possible thanks to the team-work of corporation "Infosport" and company "Infosport Marketing" with Kiev city administration, state committee of youth policy, sport and tourism of Ukraine an Ukrainian Handball Federation. In the 2005 company "M.S.L." was a sponsor of the tournament.
